Shilpa Shetty stage performance at Miss Bollywood MusicalBollywood screen star Shilpa Shetty, winner of this year’s controversial “race row” Celebrity Big Brother, will make her stage debut, taking the title role in the new musical Miss Bollywood. Miss Bollywood is set against the backdrop of a London busily preparing for the 2012 Olympics. It follows the story of ‘Maya (Shetty), a classically trained dancer and choreographer recently arrived from India to set up a dance academy in a soon to be demolished east London building. Shetty and a 40-strong company of dancers will recreate dance sequences from Bollywood film classics.

The musical is produced by international impresario Farhath Hussain. The Indian creative team is led by director and choreographer Ganesh Hedge and costume designer Neeta Lulla, who has dressed Shilpa Shetty in many of her Bollywood films. The Miss Bollywood company, cast in the UK and India, also features Nicholas Brown, Anousha Dandekar, Wayne Perrey, Swini Khar, Amit Sial, Anand Tiwar and, as the mayor of London, Peter Rylands.

My daughter Sara Alisa is such a big fan of Shilpa’s, she even wrote to her earlier this year, but perhaps Shilpa was so busy that she did not get to read her letter. Sara and her younger brother Adam with their parents would be so excited and previliged to go to see Shilpa’s show in Birmingham. So looking forward to see her.

    With kind regards

Please could you let Shilpa Know that we were delighted to see her in Manchester at the Miss Bollywood show. We enjoyed watching her show, she looked magnificent along with the crew. Isha personally would like to wish Shilpa all the best for the future and adds that, meeting Shilpa has definatley made her feel like one of the Stars!
If ever, Shilpa needs a place to go for a traditional curry, then she’s more than welcome to visit Saffron in Manchester again.

Thank you so much for all your kindness.

    Nfiece (Isha’s mum)

So nice to read positive responses to Shilpa and “Miss Bollywood” after all the snooty, spiteful reviews in the British press. Can’t those scribblers understand, Shilpa isn’t trying to be Sarah Bernhardt, she just wants to give her fans a happy song-and-dance musical?
